illusions ...
i was in mumbai sometime back and this peculiar incident happened with me...
had promised meself that would surely write about it..somehow could not (working lady saga :P)
well anyways, sad stories apart :D, here u go...
we were having lunch at this simple hotel in colaba, when suddenly, two hands poked my shoulder from the window (me was sitting beside the window giving an exotic view to the streets of aamchi mumbai:)) first i was startled then it scared the hell outta me..
two beggar kids, were asking for some food..i m pretty bad at handling this cos i dont like the whole idea, of giving food for free..well thinking i was, to somehow wriggle out of the situation, dont know what struck me..i took my bag, took out a five star i had bought for emergencies, and gave it to the kid..wild with joy it went to its other friends..the most astonishing thing happened then, instead of eating it him/her(dont remember the gender) self, the child gave the "5 *" to its younger sibling and both finished it happily..taken over by the whole emotional scene, i also took some snaps of them (now i know why the faarainers find indian beggars so amusing :))
although, the beggar kids' other friends thronged us for more '5 eesstarss' later, and i also found out that their whole family was into this begging business (i did feel sorry for meself then), i was happy cos i had made someone happy!!
hmmm...made someone happy...
taking a look back, i realize, what i gave to the children was momentary happiness..
after a day or two when, they or their parents could not find anything to eat, those kids would be left in the vicious misery..
is it always like this? may be i m thinking too deep, over a mundane matter..but it is worth giving a thought...there are people who are happy over small things in life and there are people who ooze happiness, like they dont know what happiness is?? may be the small kids had not even realized, that they were happy and they were in such euphoric state...may be the giver (me) was aware of what happiness (chocolat) m giving, but the taker (the kids) just knew that they r getting something exotic to eat and it needs to be eaten...so simple yet so complex, isnt it??
illusions i say are good for health :D
hadnt it been for writing and this blog, i was surely a goner ...:):)
till we meet again, stay simple..
p.s. good i dint write this blog then :D
